About Dataminr

Adam Bates is the Chief Product Officer of Dataminr, responsible for the product roadmap that fuels growth across the public and private sector businesses—and expanding Dataminr’s total addressable market by identifying unmet demand and delivering human-centered, AI-driven experiences.

Adam has 20 years of experience in tech product management and development. Previously, he was SVP of product at Freshbooks where he helped expand the company’s addressable market by 4x and increase the annual growth rate by nearly 10x.

He has a BS in computer science from The University of Colorado, Boulder and an MBA from University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business.

Dan Carmichael is the Chief Information Security Officer at Dataminr. He has led the privacy, security, and compliance functions at global marketing technology firms and served as CIO for international firms in the financial services and energy sectors. 

Dan specializes in protecting platforms involving large-scale data and innovative use of AI. He has built deep knowledge of top privacy and security frameworks such as ISO 27,000 series, NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA. 

Dan holds numerous privacy and security certifications and studied business, computer science and cybersecurity at Columbia University, MIT, Harvard University, and Georgia Tech.

Brian Howie is President, Corporate Market at Dataminr, responsible for all facets of the company’s private sector business globally, including new business, account management and customer success. 

He has 20-plus years of sales leadership experience and deep expertise scaling sales organizations focused on enterprise-wide cybersecurity software. Prior to Dataminr, Brian served as the head of worldwide sales at tray.io, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s sales strategies and global outreach. Before that, he held leadership positions at Menlo Security, Sumo Logic, AppDynamics, McAfee, and HP Software.

Jeff Kinsey is a co-founder of and Chief Technology Officer at Dataminr. Since launching Dataminr’s first engineering and AI team in 2009, he has designed and built numerous critical components of Dataminr’s AI platform, leading innovations in predictive and generative AI for real-time event detection.

As CTO, Jeff plays an instrumental role in driving strategic initiatives for the AI platform, including data ingest, stream processing and multimodal event detection. Prior to Dataminr, he operated a technical consulting practice, building analytics tools and software for research institutions and enterprises.

Jeff holds a BS in computer science from Yale University.

Jonathan Alford is SVP, Revenue Operations & Strategy at Dataminr, responsible for the go-to-market (GTM) operations within the company including sales enablement and revenue technology. With over 20 years of experience in cybersecurity leading both finance and operations functions, Jonathan has a proven track record of driving growth and optimization of the GTM engine.  

Prior to Dataminr, he served as the VP of Commercial Finance at Mimecast and VP of Sales Operations & Finance at Forescout Technologies.  

Jonathan earned a BA in biochemistry and a MBA with a concentration in finance from The University of Texas at Austin.

Amy Cheney is SVP, Global Enterprise Sales at Dataminr, responsible for leading enterprise new business sales. She was part of the go-to-market team that launched Dataminr into corporate enterprises and built and scaled Dataminr’s first account management organization.

Amy spent over 15 years at Bloomberg where she led sales and business development for new business products Bloomberg Vault and Bloomberg Law. 

Amy has a BA in economics and English from Bucknell University and an MBA from Cornell University. She is an instructor at Cornell Tech in Manhattan, where she teaches a sales course for MBA students.

Michael DiOrio is SVP of Operations at Dataminr. For 10+ years, he has focused on scaling the company’s AI platform for real-time risk detection and its pioneering AI human-in-the-loop team. 

He leads a global operations team instrumental in developing 1 million-plus unique sources of public data for Dataminr’s AI engine, and building out new alerting use cases to accelerate commercialization.

Michael is an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserves and a term member on the Council of Foreign Relations. He earned a BA from the College of the Holy Cross, an MA from Johns Hopkins University, and an MBA from the University of Michigan.

Dan Dunn is SVP of Product Engineering at Dataminr, responsible for the teams that develop and maintain products across all company verticals. He works closely with Product, Design, Customer Success and AI teams to deliver the suite of applications, integrations and services that deliver real-time alerts to Dataminr customers.

During his tenure, Dan’s focus has been on scaling teams, infrastructure and processes to meet the demands of Dataminr’s AI platform and customer base, and helping to ensure Dataminr consistently delivers innovative products and services.

Dan earned a BA from the University of Missouri.

Emily Gates is SVP of Customer Experience & Sales at Dataminr. Prior to Dataminr, she held senior customer success and client service roles at SaaS companies BrightEdge and Return Path. 

She also worked for Ipsos, where she helped build a social media research and innovation business unit throughout Europe. 

Emily received a BS. in advertising from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Sarah Jackson is SVP, Customer Success, Public Sector at Dataminr, where she leads a global team of customer success specialists and architects responsible for driving business outcomes via customer enablement, product adoption and value realization. 

Sarah’s career has been dedicated to helping public sector organizations leverage technology to address mission-critical priorities. Prior to Dataminr, she spent a combined 25 years as general manager at Microsoft and vice president at Oracle. 

She earned a BS from Oklahoma State University and serves as board chair of the Washington Tennis & Education Foundation (WTEF) and board secretary of Fair Chance, DC.

Michael Sumberac is SVP, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Dataminr and leads the accounting team through all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. 

Micheal has been instrumental to Dataminr’s growth. He was a key member of the team responsible for Dataminr’s 2018 and 2021 financing rounds and assisted in the diligence and integration of Dataminr’s two acquisitions in 2021 and 2022. 

Michael’s 25-plus years of experience includes financial and U.S. SEC reporting, IPOs, corporate governance, and domestic and international taxation.

He holds a BS in accounting from Pace University.

Paul Tierney is SVP, NORAM Public Sector Sales at Dataminr, responsible for driving growth in new and existing business with public sector organizations in the U.S. and Canada.  

Before joining Dataminr, Paul led a national sales team at Mediware (now Wellsky), where he pioneered the company’s work with the public sector. Prior to that, he worked in a series of sales and consulting roles at organizations such as PwC. He also served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the U.S. Navy for six years.

Paul earned a B.S. in business administration (finance) from Villanova University.
