“Dataminr’s Slack integration is indispensable for us at The Huffington Post. We’ve created channels for different news events and coverage areas, and are able to discuss alerts as they flow in. It’s a great way to collaborate in real time with HuffPost’s hundreds of journalists around the world,” says Ethan Klapper, Global Social Media Editor at The Huffington Post.
Dataminr Alerts viewed within a Slack channel provide a quick snapshot and include links to view more information in the Dataminr for News web application or on one of the more than 1 million unique data sources integrated into Dataminr’s AI platform. Alerts also highlight eyewitness video and photos embedded in the original public post, giving journalists an immediate sense of what’s happening on the ground.
The Dataminr for News Slack App is available for Enterprise clients and a Dataminr account is required for the integration. Slack team owners and authorized members who have been permissioned to integrate 3rd party apps can follow the steps below to get started:
In the Dataminr for News web app, open the Settings menu (indicated by your name), click Account, and select the Alert Integration tab. Then click Enable Slack and follow the prompts to grant permissions and determine in which channel you’d like to receive alerts.
Notifications delivered through Slack will depend on the topic lists that a user has customized in their Dataminr settings.
If you have any questions about optimizing your account settings for Slack, please contact your account manager or email [email protected].
You have the right to request that Dataminr deletes the Personal Data that it has collected about you to set up the Slack integration. To exercise this option, please send a request that (1) provides sufficient information to allow us to verify that you are the person about whom we have collected Personal Data, and (2) describes your request in sufficient detail to allow Dataminr to understand, evaluate and respond to it.
Each request that meets both of these criteria will be considered a “Valid Request.” Dataminr may not respond to requests that do not meet these criteria. Dataminr will only use Personal Data provided in a Valid Request to verify your identity and complete your request. Dataminr will work to respond to your Valid Request within 45 days of receipt. You may email a Valid Request to this address, or submit a form.
