Meet our team

Dan Carmichael is the Chief Information Security Officer at Dataminr. He has led the privacy, security, and compliance functions at global marketing technology firms and served as CIO for international firms in the financial services and energy sectors. 

Dan specializes in protecting platforms involving large-scale data and innovative use of AI. He has built deep knowledge of top privacy and security frameworks such as ISO 27,000 series, NIST, SOC 2, GDPR, and CCPA. 

Dan holds numerous privacy and security certifications and studied business, computer science and cybersecurity at Columbia University, MIT, Harvard University, and Georgia Tech.

Dan Dunn is SVP of Product Engineering at Dataminr, responsible for the teams that develop and maintain products across all company verticals. He works closely with Product, Design, Customer Success and AI teams to deliver the suite of applications, integrations and services that deliver real-time alerts to Dataminr customers.

During his tenure, Dan’s focus has been on scaling teams, infrastructure and processes to meet the demands of Dataminr’s AI platform and customer base, and helping to ensure Dataminr consistently delivers innovative products and services.

Dan earned a BA from the University of Missouri.

Omar Fakhri is SVP of Customer Success at Dataminr. He brings two decades of customer success and support leadership experience from both public companies and venture/PE-backed organizations. Omar’s leadership is defined by establishing a foundation for maximum product adoption and superior customer experience across all post-sales functions. 

Prior to joining Dataminr, Omar held multiple leadership roles at companies such as HPE Aruba, Dell Technologies, and Forescout Technologies. He earned a BS in engineering and an MBA from the University of Toledo.

Sabrina Mawani is SVP, Deputy General Counsel at Dataminr. She oversees the Commercial Contracting team, and is also responsible for Product, Intellectual Property, and Compliance legal matters.

Before joining Dataminr, Sabrina was on the legal team at WeWork, and prior to that, she was an associate at Paul Hastings LLP.

Sabrina earned a BASc from McGill University and a JD from NYU School of Law.

Chris Sherry is SVP of EMEA Sales at Dataminr. Chris has operated within the IT and cybersecurity industry for over 30 years. He has extensive senior leadership experience from organizations such as Dell, Cisco, F5, Forescout, and Forcepoint.

Chris joins Dataminr from Forcepoint where he was Theatre Vice President, responsible for its European business. Throughout his career, he has led companies through hyper-scale growth phases to deliver successful IPO outcomes.

Chris graduated from the University of Nottingham with an Engineering degree.

Michael Sumberac is SVP, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller at Dataminr and leads the accounting team through all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. 

Micheal has been instrumental to Dataminr’s growth. He was a key member of the team responsible for Dataminr’s 2018 and 2021 financing rounds and assisted in the diligence and integration of Dataminr’s two acquisitions in 2021 and 2022. 

Michael’s 25-plus years of experience includes financial and U.S. SEC reporting, IPOs, corporate governance, and domestic and international taxation.

He holds a BS in accounting from Pace University.
