Case Study

Las Vegas Mass Shooting

On October 02, 2017, a gunman opened fire from his hotel room at a country music festival on the Las Vegas strip, killing 59 people and injuring more than 500 others. Dataminr quickly alerted clients to the mass shooting, 22 minutes ahead of major news. As a result, clients were able to respond quickly and protect their people and assets.

As the shooting progressed, hotels went on lockdown, police halted traffic, and first responders ordered people to take cover. Dataminr surfaced eyewitness accounts of these safety measures, providing a real-time view of conditions on the ground. These details were essential to corporate security teams working to locate their people in the area and ensure their safety.
